Tldr at bottom.I just recently opened an automotive repair shop about 5 months ago. As a new business owner and a new business, it's actually going pretty well. Numbers and cashflow are stable for the past 3 months, no ups or downs. Just flat line but enough to pay for everything and extra for myself. But here is where Yelp came in at the end of month #3. They promised me double customer base, double the traffic, and more visibility, if the verbal terms are not met, I don't pay anything. Sounds good right? Every small business owner would love that.. if it was true. But I agreed on it verbally which can be used against themselves too and benefit me if it was recorded. No written contracts but I did give them my debit card number which I was okay with. They put me through a course on how to use my yelp page , etc and basically they put my business on the top of the ad. I have to get 66 clicks a month on the ad then I pay them a large sum of money for the clicks. Well a whole month had passed, it was at 50 clicks. My business number has not changed, but I got charged the full amount by yelp. Luckily my bank called me at 9am, declined it as a fraud charge, and I explained everything to my bank and they said they're willing to work with me. Gave me a new debit card while putting my personal on hold. Til I receive the card. To me, it seems like I got scammed by a larger company which I'm not surprised.First: I keep getting emails demanding I need to pay.Secondly: filtering my reviews. my loyal customer's review submittions are not going through yelp, but they also post on Google which goes through no problem.Third thing: besides paying the large sum of money to them, how can I get them off my back? I don't wanna have any relations with yelp anymore. I told them to take my page down from yelp. They just want the money.I don't want my business to be ruined because of yelp, I rather have no yelp page then them filtering reviews in the long run.Tldr; yelp promised me more customers, they didn't deliver the promise and charge me a lot of money. I didn't want to pay, now I'm being harassed and maybe someday ruining my business in the future. What steps can I take rightnow to get them off my back. via /r/business https://ift.tt/2JmX0g2
