Does my Business need a blog? (x-post from r/startups)

The core question "Should My Business Blog" is something we get all the time. Several times a week at least.Truth is not every startup should be blogging. Like with any marketing initiative there are pros and cons. The pros are fairly considerable, but let me walk through the cons first...Do you know how to write? (Nothing worse than a poorly crafted piece of writing as a wall against customer acquisition.)Can you properly devote time to the exercise? (Birthing a startup is like raising 16 children born the same day, you won't have time to breath for months / years.)Can you get reads? (Publishing professional grade content is but one piece of the broader marketing puzzle. If it's not read - it's dead. If you're spending money / time getting this written properly, you better make sure that you can get it read.)Bottom line? If you don't pay attention to it, a dead blog is hack.On the flip side, the pros are tremendous. There are a number of great stats I won't share here. There is a super compelling SEO purpose to writing blog content, etc. etc.But more to the point. Humanity is about stories. We live and breath "story". There's good science behind this - but consider that for eons this was the way we passed knowledge from one generation to the next. There was no books; no internet. There was only stories. This is hard-coded into our DNA.What's your story? Communicating value to your readers is paramount in building relationships with your target. Week in and week out. Where do you come from? Why are you doing this? What happens when a customer buys your product / subscribes to your service? If you can properly communicate the above. If you can properly get people to read your compelling stories. Business wins abound. To this end, we put together a comprehensive guide, linked here on how startups can build and lever professional blog content. Truly hope you'll read and extract value :)Thanks! via /r/business http://ift.tt/2yeoYoU
